Jesus Christ is the Angel of the Lord

Jesus Christ is the Angel of the Lord: “And the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham out of heaven a second time and said, ‘By Myself have I sworn’, says the Lord, ‘for because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son that, in  blessing, I will bless you, and multiplying, I will multiply your seed as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your Seed shall possess the gate of His enemies;” Genesis 22:15-17 KJVER

Abraham made serious mistakes in his walk with God, not trusting His ability to provide but, when confronted, he asked for forgiveness and change of heart. After the test of Abraham’s faith in offering his son, and his renewed confidence in God’s promise of a coming Redeemer, God repeats His covenant with him. By his repentance and obedience Abraham redeemed his past lack of perfect trust in God.

In recognition of Abraham’s faithfulness God gave him the title of the “Father of the faithful.”

His example is recorded in scripture for the benefit of all believers. This simple act of trust teaches the lesson of implicit confidence in God’s ability to save us, a complete surrender to His divine will. This results in perfect obedience to His instructions through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

In the example of Abraham we are taught that nothing we possess is too precious to give to God for all is His rightful property: our possessions, our talents and skills, everything including our children and ourselves!

Are you a child of Abraham? “For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Eph 2:8-9 KJVER)  Have you, too, made bad choices in your life? Have you asked God to forgive you? Are you learning to trust Him more? Do you submit to His divine will on a daily basis?

Praise God for Jesus Christ, the Angel of the Lord and His everlasting covenant with Abraham!
