Jesus is the Lord God of the Sabbath

“Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it because that, in it, He had rested from all His work which God created and made. These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, and every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew:” Genesis 2:1-5 KJVER

Christ is the creator of all things in heaven and on the earth. In fact, He, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, created the entire universe. On this planet, they set aside the seventh-day as a memorial of creation week. It is a beautiful token of their others-centered love! As Sabbath began on the evening of the seventh day the Creator married the couple as evident when He brought Eve to Adam. And then they rested with their Creator on that blessed day.  Joining the newlyweds, Christ sanctified the Sabbath by His presence. Imagine the God of the universe as your personal instructor pointing out the features of your beautiful garden home!

Sabbath is such a special time to spend with our Creator for it calls our minds to think of His creativity evidenced by His works. Although sin has caused much damage to this planet, nevertheless there is ample proof of its original intelligent design by an awesome Designer.

As the holy day of creation week when Christ rested so Sabbath can be a day of refreshing and renewal when we keep it set apart for a time of togetherness with our Creator. By stopping our busy activities to enjoy Sabbath, we can hear the songs of the birds, the wind whistling through the treetops and, seeing the rhythms and balance of nature under the curse of sin, we can be still listen to His voice speaking to our hearts as when Christ walked and talked with our first parents on that first Sabbath. Beholding His awesome power in nature we are assured of His ability to care for us. His gentle voice speaks to our soul, bringing life, joy and peace.

Do you keep the seventh-day Sabbath as ordained by your Creator? Are its sacred hours a delight to you? Do you take time to worship Him on His Sabbath day? To walk in nature and enjoy His creative works?

Praise the Lord of the Sabbath: Jesus Christ as “He said to them, ‘The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath, therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.’” Mark 2:27-28 See Luke 6:5
